We’ve just posted a new document at Ecosystem/Wallet Connect Roadmap - Simplicity talking about requirements for the Simplicity ecosystem, particularly in terms of the need for wallets to be able to clearly explain to users what the users are signing and which contracts they’re interacting with. Questions and comments are welcome!
The document emphasizes the concept of “clear signing” as a counterpoint to the “blind signing” issue that has afflicted cryptocurrency and smart contract systems in the past. Blind signing in this context means that users are asked to approve transactions without directly being able to see the transaction details and understand the overall context of a transaction. This is a big risk when scammers send users plausibly-described but ultimately fake requests; if users accept the requests at face value, they may give away assets to scams or to contracts that include unexpected gotchas.
The second point is worth pondering: a user doesn’t just need to know that a contract is a legitimate lending contract, but also needs to confirm that the contract isn’t demanding 10000% interest with a loan term of 1 hour. Clearly understanding the particulars of each contract and clearly helping the user set expectations is essential.
So, we want to give wallets (and users) tools to get thoroughly clear on what each proposed transaction does or doesn’t mean, every time.
